The Peter and Paul Fortress В (the Central Alley)
Interesting facts: The city took its name from the name originally given to this fortress. In translation, the name means “Fortress of St. Peter.” Celebrating the date of the foundation of Saint Petersburg May 27, citizens actually are celebrating the day of foundation of the Peter and Paul Fortress in 1703.
Monument to Peter the Great – the most controversial monument in the city
Guardroom – punished garrison soldiers were held there. Now it is the place where the administration of The History Museum is located.
Kommendant’s House – the building where commandants of fortress lived.
Engineers House – here lived and worked the fortress engineers.
Armoury (Zeughaus) – former Arsenal, which repaired trucks named “Roads of Life”.
