Old Stock Exchange
Place: Spit of Vasilyevsky Island
Architect: Jean-François Thomas de Thomon
Purpose: Initially the building was constructed for the stock exchange; until recently, there was the largest naval museum in the country. Today it is empty, the museum moved, the fate of the building remains uncertain.
Remarkable features: On the pediment of the building, you can see a sculpture of Neptune- the God of the sea with two symbolical figures of rivers lying near him. A female figure is often associated with Neva River.
